Fitbit Accountability
So I started using a Fitbit. What is a Fitbit, you ask? It’s just magic little gadget clip on my bra strap that watches me like a hawk and tricks me into healthier choices. Instead of an angel on my shoulder it’s like having Mr. Hunter from 8th grade PE in my ear bellowing ‘pump your arms’ and threatening me with a muumuu. I’ve got a ways to go, but I think it’s going to work! (So far…two weeks in).
Day One I checked it after a busy preschool morning and realized I had burned half of my daily calories just by being my normal mom self! I was hooked. Now my little motivator beckons me throughout the day to check my stats, geeking out on steps and calories burned. I have a love-hate relationship with the activity log that records the quality (and often abysmal duration) of my sleep.
Even when my steps are low I am reminded that my body is at work constantly even while I’m focused on doing other things. And that walk to the corner market feels so much more meaningful.
